Sulphur Springs Duck Hunt

I was able to take my buddy Guillermo out to meet up with Seth from Private Water Fishing to duck hunt at one of the properties in Sulphur Spring on the last weekend of the season.  We all got our limit and even passed on more ring necks for an opportunity at puddle ducks.

Getting set up.

Tons of ducks

Unfortunately, you don't always make a great shot and you have to complete the kill. It is one of the difficult things about hunting but being an ethical hunter is something that every hunter should practice.

I think I'll get a lab for my next dog.

What a great hunt.

Duck Recipe

I just started hunting duck this last season and have been trying different ways of cooking it.
This has been my favorite so far.

First I cooked 5 slices of bacon in the iron skillet over an open flame while marinating the duck in lime and grapefruit juice for about 30-45 minutes.  Then I sprinkled on some salt, pepper and dried thai chilies and cooked the duck breasts to a delicious medium rare in the bacon grease.
It is such an easy recipe and so far has been my favorite.

Cheers,

Purtis Creek

I went out with Josh and Ryan from Mountain Sports a couple of weeks back for an overnighter and of course we brought boats.  Th fishing was slow, we could see them all over the fish finders but nothing was hitting.  Either way, we had a good time.

Enjoy the photos.
